Before he ever opened a set of bay doors in Ottawa, our founder spent decades solving hard technical problems on paper and in the lab. A master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wales — recognized as equivalent to a Canadian master's by World Education Services — gave him the fundamentals. A PhD in control engineering gave him something rarer: a deep understanding of how modern systems sense, decide, and act in real time.
That's not a coincidence for this business. A modern EV or hybrid isn't really an engine with some wires attached — it's a network of control systems, sensors, and power electronics that behaves more like a computer than a car. Most shops are trained on the mechanics of the old world. We start from the control theory of the new one.
To connect that theoretical depth with the practical reality of a shop floor, he went back to school — this time at Algonquin College, training hands-on in automotive systems alongside instructors and classmates decades younger. Da Hai Automotive exists to put both halves of that experience to work: the technical grounding to understand exactly what's happening inside an EV's battery pack, and the hands-on skill to actually do something about it.
